In accordance with established legislative order the Committee carries out following problems: 

1)  The functions providing realization of a state policy in sphere of development of languages on:

- maintenance of realization of programs of functioning and development of languages;

- the organizations of information, methodical maintenance of activity of a uniformstate policy in sphere of development of languages;

- maintenance of activity terminological and onomastic commissions;

-interdepartmental coordination on problems concerning the competence of Committee;

-representation of recommendations about elimination of infringements of requirements of the legislation about languages, insertion of offers into corresponding bodies about application of measures of summary punishment to the officials guilty of infringement of the legislation on languages;

2) control-supervising functions after realization of a state policy in sphere of development of languages on:

maintenance of the control over observance of the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan about languages in the central and local agencies of areas (cities ofrepublican value, capitals);

The Committee for realization of the primary goals and functions has the right in prescribed manner established by the legislation:

1) within the limits of the competence to request and receive from the state bodies and other organizations the information on execution of the legislation in sphere of development of languages, the State program of functioning and development of languages;

2)  to publish legal certificates on problems concerning the competence of Committee;

3) to spend meetings, seminars, conferences and the international symposiums concerning the problems of the competence of Committee;

4)  to impose official penalties according to the legislation of the Republic of  Kazakhstan;

5)  to make offers on development of normative legal certificates in the field of development of languages;

6) to address to court in cases of default of the legislation on languages by physical andjuridical persons in accordance with procedure and bases established by the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

7)  to make offers concerning problems of creation, reorganization, liquidation of subordinated organizations;

8)  to listen to representatives of State organs and other organizations on problems of linguistic policy;
